Quick Guide for installing RPMScript 1.2

September 2nd, 2010

Here are some easy steps for installing rpmccormick’s RPMScript 1.2 on fw 0827. If you also want to get the Market working, first you will need to follow this guide for getting an AndroidID.

Step 1: Install and run UniversalAndroot (For detailed steps see Step 1 of Easy Root & txPower fix)

Step 2: Install adbWireless

Step 3: Ensure your wifi is connected and run adbWireless

Note: When adbWireless starts it will look like its enabled, it’s not. Make sure you turn it off by pressing the red button and then turn it back on by pressing the green button. It will now display the tablets IP address and port number. (eg. 192.168.x.x:5555)

How to flash new firmware on Zenithink ZT-180

September 2nd, 2010

Step 1: Download the latest firmware (Check my other posts for the Android fw)

Step 2: With the tablet turned off, connect it to your computer using the mini-USB port. (also make sure you have power connected!)

Step 3: On the tablet, hold down the Menu button and then press the Power button. You will now see a Found New Hardware popup on your computer. From the New Hardware screen you need to locate the USB driver which is located in my latest firmware download.

Note: If the device fails to install, go to device manager, click on Unknown Device, click on reinstall drivers, browse to where the USB drivers are and reinstall them.

Note 2: These drivers will only work on 32bit systems.

Screen calibration issues on ZT-180

August 30th, 2010

There has been alot of talk about the calibration problems on the zt-180 and everyone seems to be giving different results. I’d like to compare different units and firmware to see exactly what the problem is. There are 2 apps you can load to test your screen calibration, MultiTouch Visualizer 2 & Multitouch Visible Test.

As you can see below, both of the apps give the same result on mine. I’m currently running 0818 w/ RPMScript.

At this point there is no way to calibrate the screen so I highly recommend using a stylus until this issue is resolved.

Update: I have found a HTC Calibration app. It installs and allows you to calibrate but it’s hard to say if there is any improvement. Some users recommend calibrating with a USB mouse. Try it out for yourself and post your findings!  Download HTC Calibrate

Easy Root & txPower fix on Zenithink ZT-180

August 25th, 2010

There are a lot of people who are unfamiliar with Android and the SDK so I thought I would show you the easy way to gain root access and apply the txpower fix. If you don’t already know, the txpower fix changes the txpower value from 100 to 20 which gives you better wifi performance plus helps with temperature problems. It should also slightly increase battery life.

Follow these steps below
